Documentary family and newborn photography in Dortmund. Paula creates calm, honest images of everyday life, birth and the first weeks with your baby.
I’m Paula — a documentary family and newborn photographer who focuses on the honest moments that make up family life. My work is about the little gestures, exchanged glances, the tumbling on the couch and the quiet instants after birth. Instead of staged images, I seek the small realities that later become the stories you share and remember. My approach is unobtrusive and attentive. Family sessions usually take place at home or in places familiar to you so the images reflect your real life: the way the kitchen smelled that morning, who was at the table, how a bedtime routine looks — these details become the threads of your family’s visual history. I aim to create photographs that work as living documents: authentic, intimate and full of connection. Newborn and birth photography are an important part of my work. I accompany the first hours and days with sensitivity and respect for privacy. Whether a calm home birth, a report in a birth centre, or the initial days at home, I capture those first encounters in a way that lets you relive the emotion again and again. Comfort and trust are central to how I work. We start with a conversation to plan the day; during the session I stay as unobtrusive as possible — observing, waiting for the moment, stepping in only when needed. Afterward you receive carefully edited images that accompany your family and preserve its stories. My photography is shaped by empathy, experience as a mother and a desire to make memory tangible. If you’re looking for a family or newborn photographer who values calm, authenticity and storytelling, I would love to meet you and document your moments.
