I’m Katja Schäfer, a family photographer based in Buchen in the Odenwald. Photography became my calling after I began studying and training intensively from 2017 onward. Since then I’ve focused on creating natural, emotional family images that tell your story—images that you can return to again and again and truly feel. My work combines a reportage sensibility with artistic portraiture: I look for the candid smiles, quiet embraces and lively family interactions that make each family unique. I enjoy photographing homestory sessions, outdoor family shoots among the trees and gentle newborn portraits, always with patience and sensitivity to the needs of children and new parents. The aim is real moments rather than staged poses. How I work: before the session we discuss your wishes, favourite locations and little family rituals that make your photos personal. During the shoot I create a relaxed atmosphere where children can be themselves and parents can simply enjoy being together. This relaxed approach produces authentic, warm images—full of life and emotion. I love using the natural backdrop of the Odenwald, but I also value intimate indoor sessions that reflect your home life. In addition to family work, I am active as a wedding photographer in the region; that reportage experience strengthens my timing, attention to detail and ability to capture fleeting moments—skills I bring into every family shoot.
